The PFS credential, established in 1987 by the AICPA, recognizes CPAs with considerable professional experience in financial planning. Currently, 4,000 CPAs hold the PFS credential nationwide.
Michael Maye met the requirements to earn the credential. This designation can only be acquired by CPAs who are members in good standing of the AICPA which binds them to a Code of Professional Conduct.

CPAs who have earned the PFS credential must be re-certified every three years to maintain the credential.
